2. Isabella Hardie was the second child, first daughter, of John Hardie and Isabel (or Isabella) Cousin Hardie. Isabella was baptized on 26 October 1788 in Saline, Fife. She was married on 12 March 1813 to John Sands. She may have been living in Edinburgh at the time. The marriage certificate describes them as “Mr. John Sands, Wright [builder], South Leith Parish, and Miss Isabel Hardie, Tollbooth Church Parish, Daughter of Mr. John Hardie, Parish of Saline” and further says that “She has resided in Edinburgh upwards of six weeks preceding the proclamation of Banns...”. After their marriage Isabella and David Sands probably lived in Kinross. Isabella died on 28 September 1859 in Kinross. John died on 19 June 1852 in Kinross They had nine children:

2.1. David Sands was born in 1814 and baptized on 12 June 1814 in Kinross, Kinross. He died on 11 September 1881. He worked for his uncle Joseph Hardie in Kinross. When Joseph retired in 1844, David took over the store. Joseph Hardie died less than a year after he had retired. David Sands was married on 2 June 1850 at Kinross, Scotland, to Margaret Watt Smith, of Haddington, daughter of Margaret Smith. (Her father had probably died before 1850.) Children:

2.1.1. Margaret Watt Sands was born 10 April 1851 and baptized on 4 May 1851 in Kinross. She was married on 25 December 1878 to John Brough (son of John Brough and Eliza Brown. Margaret died on 3 December 1921 in Partick, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. John was born on 18 May 1848 in Kinross and died on 28 December 1917 in Glasgow.

2.1.3. Rachel Sinclair Sands was born 6 August 1854 and baptized on 6 September 1854 in Kinross. She never married and died on 21 December 1948 at Kinross.

2.1.4. Marianne Sands was born on17 May 1856 in Kinross. She died unmarried on 1 June 1927 at Kinross.

2.1.5. John Sands was born 13 May 1858 in Kinross and died in infancy on 3 September 1858.

2.1.6. James Sands was born 13 May 1858 in Kinross and died in infancy and died on 24 July 1889 at Kinross.

2.1.7. John Sands was born 27 August 1860 in Kinross. On 14 June 1898 he married Jessie Ann Dickie (daughter of Alexander Dickie of Grahamston, Portmoak, Kinross. She was born 14 Jun 1874 in Portmoak. Children:

2.1.7.1. D’Arcy Sands. She was born on 15 June 1899 at Kinross. D'Arcy Sands married Charles Campbell Thomson on 3 March 1921 at Kinross. Charles was the son of Peter Thomson and Margaret McMahon and was born on 20 April 1895 at Bo'ness, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland..

2.2. Isabella Sands was baptized on 2 June 1816 in Kinross, Kinross, and died in infancy. . They had no children.

2.3. Isabel Sands was born in 1819 and baptized on 28 March 1819 in Kinross. and died on 11 July 1869 in Bothwell near Glasgow. She was married on 1 March 1846 to James Galbraith. who was born on 31 March 1815 in New Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire, and was the son of William Galbraith and Jean Weir. James died on 30 March 1884 in Glasgow. Children:

Walter was the son of William Galbraith and Jean Weir. Walter was born on 1 December 1827 in Dunbarton, Dunbartonshire and died 14 December 1913 in West Kilbride, Ays. Helen died on 24 December 1895 in Glasgow. Children:

On 28 June 1905 he married Isabella Clayworth Hardie (daughter of James Hardie and Margaret Campbell. In other words he married his cousin who was descended from David Hardie of Marklemains). She died 21 May 1944 in Maryhill, Glasgow. Children:
